Abomination

LEVY/MEIJER BOOK TOUR! I just found out I've been picked for the big Meijer READ THIS author tour in Michigan September 18-21! We'll be touring 9 stores in 5 cities. Check out my appearances page for more details. I'm VERY excited!

GRAMMY COLLEEN!:
I'm going to be a grandma! On Valentine's Day, my darling son and daughter-in-law told me that Donna is expecting our first granchild on Sept 30. I can't wait! I've been anticipating this event for YEARS! And after a recent ultrasound, we know we're having a GIRL!!!

» NEXT BOOK OUT
My next book should be appearing in your stores any day. It's called Anathema, and it was conceived after the Amish school shooting. I was talking with my agent and we were discussing what might happen if an Amish woman was unable to forgive. It's a story that examines how important forgiveness really is to us. I have some Amish friends I love and being in their home is being surrounded by peace. They have such an enviable way of accepting what comes from God's hand. I wanted to explore that a bit. Isn't the cover gorgeous? If you'd like a see a video about it, click here.

Here's a sneak peek at a review. This is from Romantic Times Magazine.
This page-turner pulls you in right from the start. The fast-paced, engaging story and vivid scenes and characters are not to be missed. It also includes some interesting background information on Amish quilts.

Summary: Hannah Swartz is betrothed to Noah Whetstone, but her heart belongs to Reece O'Connor, an Englischer. After the death of her parents, she flees her Amish community with Reece, only to learn that he's not quite the man she believed him to be.

After four years of marriage and the loss of her baby, Hannah leaves Reece to reinvent her life. She never gave up on finding her parents' murderer, and when her family members are threatened, she believes Reece will stop at nothing to get back at her for leaving him. He even claims that their daughter is still alive. Will Hannah be able to save her family and herself from the person who has held a grudge against them for decades?

Abomination will be releasing in trade paper any day! It's a thriller about Eve and her fight to escape a serial killer who leaves his victim at a geocaching site. I believe it's the first ever geocaching novel. It was so fun to visit with Bree, Kade and Samson!

» Lonestar Sanctuary A Crossings Exclusive!
II'm thrilled to announce that Lonestar Sanctuary is available exclusively from the BookSpan Book Clubs (Doubleday, Crossings, Literary Guild, Rhapsody) untll August. If you belong to one of the bookclubs (and if you don't, now is a good time to join!) you'll be able to order it. Set in the gorgeous Big Bend area of Texas, it's about a young woman who will do anything to save her daughter from the man who's after them--even if it means marrying a man she doesn't know. I'm working on the sequel, Lonestar Secrets, now and it will be availiable summer 2008 from the clubs, and Lonestar Sanctuary will be out in the bookstores this September.

New Grandpup!
Meet Jake, my new grandpuppy! This is the day Dave and Donna brought him down to meet his grandma. He's eight-weeks-old in this picture--a purebred newfoundland. I had no idea newfies were so sweet. I had him held up like this for several minutes while my husband took the picture and he didn't even squirm to try to get away. He's like a big rag doll.

Update: Jakey is now about 5 mos old and he's over 90 pounds! I wouldn't be able to pick him up if I tried. He'll probably grow to about 140 pounds. He's oh-so-sweet!

» Brainstorming a New Book:
Diann Hunt, Denise Hunter and I routinely brainstorm our new ideas. We did just that the other day here at my house, though this picture of us is at the ACFW Conference. This is just what we look like when we're brainstorming though--laughing and relaxed. That's Di on the left, then me, then Denise.

I've been stuck in the house with shingles for two months, but I did get out long enough to brainstorm with friends annually in Kansas City too. Brainstorming is an important part of getting the depth and layers I like in a story. My new one will be a psychological suspense set in South Carolina in an old mansion.
From the bottom, then each row from the left. Rene Gutteridge, Till Fell, Cheryl Hodde. Stephanie Grace Whitson, Mel Hodde. Nancy Moser, Colleen Coble. Deborah Raney.

» Dangerous Depths Wins! And So Does Hot Tropics and Cold Feet!
Me and Di
Diann Hunt and I just got back from the American Christian Fiction Writers Annual Conference. Dangerous Depths won Suspense book of the Year and Hot Tropics and Cold Feet won Lit Book of the Year. It was so great to share this honor with Diann!

My First Geocaching Event:

My husband and I went to the Midwest Geobash and it was SO FUN! I learned all kinds of fun new words, I met some great people like Gary and Donna Scrambling. I had my first podcast interview. I met some folks from Groundspeak. SUCH fun!

Samson from the Rock Harbor Series
You ever wonder what Samson really looks like? This is Harley, the inspiration for Samson. He was found at about 4 weeks old down by the river in a box. All his siblings were dead around him in the box but he survived the cruelty of the person who tossed the puppies out to die. We've lost him now to bone cancer, but he lives on in the Rock Harbor books!

Meet Parker:

This is my other grandpup, Parker. Click here for his Dogster profile. He's a darling Golden Retriever that Kara found at a shelter in Arizona. She owns See Spot Clean, a groom/dog wash shop in Goodyear. You'll find Goldens popping up in books here and there because of him. He's a darling!

His full name is Peter Parker Lewis the Wookie Aquaman Coble. LOL Quite a mouthfull, isn't it?
